What is Compound?

Compound is a lending platform based on Ethereum. The main purpose of the platform is to allow users to lend and borrow different types of coins thanks to an open-access smart contract system.

The interest rate is set and updated every 10 seconds depending on supply and demand for an asset. This creates an automatic incentive system, meaning that if the demand for an asset is high and the supply is low, the interest rate will rise, encouraging lenders to invest assets to generate income. On the other hand, if supply is high and demand is low, the interest rate will be lower, encouraging credit creation.
